At Second Son Consulting, we believe technology should feel like it belongs because it’s built around the people who use it. That’s why we don’t just support Apple environments. We reimagine how they work in the real world.
We start by getting a clear picture of how your team actually works: what’s effective, what’s creating friction, and what’s holding you back. From there, we build a strategy in-house that is shaped by what we’ve learned so the systems and support we deliver adapt to your workflows and support your team, making things run smoother. We’ve built systems that make Mac support seamless, security transparent, and decision-making easier. And we do it by listening first to understand your workflows and your culture before recommending anything.
Discover
We start by intimately learning your business and processes. The goal is to understand what your ideal human experience is and how technology can help improve your operations. We’ll clearly show you the pros and cons to various problems and their solutions and help you define the best end-user experience that creates quantifiable results.
Design
Whether we’re designing and implementing a light-touch onboarding process for new hires or transitioning to a new cloud service, it’s important that you feel confident using it. During the Design phase, we’ll work out any bugs and pave the way for a smooth, full-scale launch that disrupts your business – in a good way.
Implement
This is when the magic happens. We’ll connect with your local and remote team members so they know what to expect as we deploy your tailored solution and ensure everything works as intended.
Document
Our deployments are part technical, part educational. We will provide you with all of the information on our work – from technical documentation to orientation packets – so you can maintain the highest level of productivity going forward.

We’ve spent over two decades learning from a global community of Apple IT professionals. These are relationships that were built at conferences, trainings, and now through the Mac Admins Foundation. As sponsors and mentors, we’re proud to support the Foundation’s mission to advance the people who manage Apple devices at every scale. We also contribute open-source tools like Baseline and Renew to the Mac Admins community, which were shaped by years of collaboration and shared problem-solving. It’s our way of giving back to the network that’s helped us grow, and of investing in the next generation of Mac Admins.
Giving Back Is Built In
Baseline
Onboarding new staff members, especially when fully remote, can be achieved more effectively when the IT Admins don’t have to physically touch the device to prep it for the user. Baseline allows you to ship a new computer or reset an existing one back to a clean starting point, without needing to get your hands on it. This is often called Zero-touch deployment.
There are many commercial tools out there that offer Apple device admins the ability to create a Zero-touch or light-touch workflow, but you must be willing and able to fully adopt their methodology, and many of these tools don’t scale down to fit the needs of small business environments for various reasons.
Baseline offers a more flexible and customizable tool that’s MDM agnostic and can even be used without an MDM tool, to automate faster and more consistent deployments of macOS devices.
Renew
Supporting remote workers has become integral over the past few years, as have cloud-based remote management tools. For those remote tools to work reliably, and for security patches to be properly installed, users need to restart their workstations regularly.
Renew is a simple tool that encourages users to restart their workstations on a regular basis with customizable reminders. This software can be delivered via MDM (and other methods) and is self-sustaining, running locally without any other tool controlling it.
